Dr. Wahegaonkar graduated from the University of Pune, India
in 1995. He subsequently completed his Residency in Orthopedic Surgery in 1999. He completed a Fellowship in Hand,Trauma and
Reconstructive Microsurgery from the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University,Frankfurt, Germany in 2003. He was awarded
the SOFCOT (Société Française de Chirurgie Orthopédique et Traumatologique) scholarship
for the year 2003-2004 towards a Clinical Fellowship in Brachial Plexus & Peripheral Nerve Surgery with Prof. Christophe
OBERLIN in Paris. He was then appointed Clinical Fellow at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for
Hand and Microsurgery, Louisville, KY;USA in 2004 for a period of one year, where he received training for Hand &
Microvascular surgery. Dr. Wahegaonkar has also trained in Obstetrical Brachial Plexus Palsy & Congenital Hand surgery
alongwith Arthroscopic surgery of the Shoulder, Elbow & wrist joints at the Institut de la Main (Institute for Hand Surgery)
in Paris,France in 2005. Upon completion of this fellowship, Dr. Wahegaonkar proceeded to Japan for a fellowhip in Brachial
Plexus & Advanced Hand surgery with Prof. Kazuteru Doi.
Prior to starting his fellowship speciality training, Dr. Wahegaonkar
was Lecturer in Orthopedic Surgery at the Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Pune, India for a period of three years. He
was also appointed as Hon.Attending Orthopedic Surgeon at the Govt. Leprosy Hospital in Pune,India. He was appointed as Trainer
in Prevention of Hand Deformities by the Govt. of India. Dr.

His special interests include adult & obstetrical brachial plexus
reconstruction,microvascular reconstruction,small joint arthroscopic surgery of the upper extremity & congenital
hand deformities.
Dr. Wahegaonkar maintains an enthusiastic interest in clinical medicine, research,
and education. While active in research and clinical practice, he is dedicated to many social & charitable activities.
Outside of clinical practice, he enjoys biking, trekking & hiking, basketball, music, medical illustration
